Richard Merritt packed a punch at the Rivals Camp Series in Richmond.
RICHMOND, Va. -- Roughly 150 of the top players in the Mid-Atlantic region traveled to Collegiate School for the latest edition of the Rivals Camp Series Presented by Under Armour. The series of drills and one-on-one competitions revealed the best players, and there were plenty of notable performances.
Taylor, Simmons and 2017 five-star defensive back Devon Hunter were invited to participate in the Rivals100 Five-Star Challenge Presented by Under Armour, which will be held at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore this June.
Grant Holloway won the wide receiver MVP award in a tight race over other highly rated prospects.
"He made a lot of circus catches and was very good at high-pointing the ball," said Rivals.com National Recruiting Director Mike Farrell. "He was one of the biggest surprises of the camp. I know he is a track star but it would be a shame if he didn't utilize his football ability at the next level."
Holloway, an elite national track hurdler and long jumper, is being recruited heavily for track and field.
Taylor, a new Florida State commit and the highest-rated defensive back in the country, took every wide receiver's best shot.
"Levonta got beat on some comeback routes but I never saw him get beat deep," Farrell said. "He is very aggressive and he plays bigger than his size. I think he lived up to his ranking."
More of the top players in the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast will compete Sunday at the Rivals Camp Series Presented by Under Armour in Charlotte.
