Five-star quarterback Malik Henry was named the
Quarterback MVP of the Rivals Speed & Skill Challenge in Orlando.
ORLANDO -- The first-ever Rivals Speed & Skill Challenge Presented by Under Armour took place Saturday at Orlando West Orange High. It included more than 120 of the region's best athletes, who competed in a series of on-on-one and seven-on-seven drills.
Five players received MVP awards for on their position, including quarterback Malik Henry, linebacker Jonathan Jones, running back Lorenzo Lingard, receiver Kevin Stepherson and defensive back K.J. Sails.
Additionally, speedster Elijah Stove took home "Lightning in a Bottle" honors, and Tyrek Tisdale won an Athletic Achievement award.
Had there been an award for "Best Trash Talker," Sails would have won that as well. His performance was the most animated and he could be seen jawing at his opponents throughout the day.
"I'm a competitor," Sails said. "Anybody who calls me out better be prepared to get this work. That's what I'm all about. The competition was great and I feel like to be the best and I feel like I competed against all the four-stars, all the five-stars and let them know this is where I belong."
In addition, Henry, along with his two IMG Academy teammates Saivion Smith and T.J. Chase, as well as Stove and Richard LeCounte, were all invited to Baltimore for the Rivals100 Five-Star Challenge in June.
Henry, a transfer from California, said he enjoyed competing against some of the top prospects in the Sunshine State.
"It felt great," he said. "It's a different level of competition out here and I'm glad I got to come out here and compete with them. My favorite part was the seven-on-sevens because I really got to show I can read and pick apart these defenses and make plays."
Saturday's event is one of two Speed & Skill Challenges that will take place this camp season. The other will be held in Houston on March 28.
