Porter shakes up the schools

There is a plan on the table for Pahokee, Fla., athlete/cornerback Tamarcus Porter as his recruitment has reached new heights and with that, has come a new level of attention that he wants to narrow down.
Offers have come in from Indiana, Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, South Carolina, Boston College, Maryland, North Carolina, and Wake Forest to name just a few. However, a Big Ten school made their way into the fold for Porter and has the 6-foot, 171-pound prospect thinking about them heavily.

"Ohio State came just at the end of the last month," Porter said. "Well, I'm real interested because I know they produce good receivers there and they've had some guys from down in this area play up there."
The plan for Porter is to shave down his list in two stages at first and then finally come up with a final choice. His first cut will come soon as Porter narrows it down to 10 schools and then will follow that with another shave making it five.
In the process Porter has a top five of schools that have offered and a top five of schools that have yet to send a scholarship his way.
Georgia, Auburn, Miami, Florida State, and Tennessee are the schools that have yet to offer but in which Porter is interested in.
"Of the schools that have offered, I like Iowa, Ohio State, Pittsburgh, North Carolina, and Wake Forest," Porter said. "Right now all of the schools are really in the same boat, but I'm just looking to keep my options open."
With one official visit already set for Pittsburgh Sept. 3, he's working on a second.
"I'm going to head to Iowa for either the Ohio State or the Michigan game," Porter said. "I haven't decided on the exact date just yet."
His decision looks most likely after his official visits, but could come when the moment is perfect.
"I guess it's whenever I feel the most comfortable," Porter said. "I'll know when it's right then. Most likely I'll take my trips though."
Porter is rated as the No. 63 overall prospect in the state of Florida.
