Grant Porter took a trip to USC this past weekend, watched the spring workout and got an opportunity to sit down with position coach Tee Martin after the practice.
The three-star wide receiver from Upland, Calif., has not been offered by the Trojans yet but Porter said it was a really valuable trip and he's hoping to keep in touch with USC in the coming months.
"I came down to the practice and it ended kind of early so I talked with coach Tee again," Porter said.
"We went up to the film room and we watched a couple videos of Sammy Watkins and some other guys and all that. We went over the film and talked about techniques so we were looking at Adoree' (Jackson) and Juju (Smith) and all their techniques and how they're different."
So far, Porter has been offered by Colorado State, Kansas, Utah and Washington State. Others are showing interest and the Upland standout said Martin told him he'll be out during spring ball to see him work out at Upland.
That could be a big factor in whether the Trojans offer or not.
"He said he's going to come out in the spring," Porter said of Martin.
"It's very big because only the best are offered by USC. If I get offered by USC it shows where I'm at in my recruiting and everything else."
Washington State has emerged as the frontrunner in Porter's recruitment especially since the Cougars have such a pass-first offense. But if USC gets involved then all bets are off since the Upland recruit had such a good experience this past weekend and he really likes the program.
"It was a good day," Porter said. "It was really nice."
