Porter and his team make history

Chicago (Ill.) Morgan Park three star ranked defensive end prospect Sam Porter (6-foot-2, 225 pounds) and his Mustang teammates have now stepped into unchartered waters after beating O'Fallon 40-14 last Friday night to advance to this weekend's Class 7A state semifinal round. The Mustangs also made history with it's win, since the Mustangs are now the only Chicago Public League team to start it's season with a 12-0 record.
“Friday night against O'Fallon was a fun game," Porter said. "We know that getting to the state final is right there. We just need to come out and stay focused this week and next week, and as long as we conmtinue to play hard and play our game we'll be alright."

Porter also talked about getting a chance to play along side his teammate Phillip Brown for the first time since Week 2 of the regular season.
"I was really excited to see number 52 (Brown) back where he belongs. I knew that he was just dying to get back on the field, and having to watch him go through rehab and to not be able to hit was tough for us and especially him. I wasn't sure how he was going to play after being out that long, and the first two series he was a little rusty. By the time was got to the start of the 2nd quarter he was back just like before, making plays and getting to the ball carrier as fast as ever. Coach (Lexie) Spurlock calls us his double barrel shotgun. We can scatter all over the place, and once we get there we make our presense known. I tease Phil that he might be faster than me, but I also hit harder than he does. Having number 52 back was a huge lift for myself and for the whole team."
Porter fills us in on his latest recruiting news.
"I'm still getting calls from Minnesota, Central Michigan, UCLA, Wisconsin, Ball State, Illinois, Purdue, Michigan State, Bowling Green and Ohio State as well as calls from Northern Illinois and Akron. I still have offers from Illinois, Ball State, Northern Illinois, Akron and Bowling Green."
"I'm just not in any hurry to make any college decisions. I'm going to set a few official visits once the season is over with."
