Popular 3-Star WR Caleb Chapman gearing up for summer visit tour

HOUSTON, Tx. -- Clear Brook three-star receiver Caleb Chapman has enjoyed a spring filled with attention from college programs. Now, with summer nearing, he’s starting to have thoughts about when he’ll tighten his focus up on the teams he’ll seriously consider going forward.

“It’s been busy – I’ve been on the phone a lot,” he said. “I want to narrow down my list soon, like maybe after the spring evaluation period and I’ll take it from there.”

The long Friendswood, Texas, wide receiver put on a show over the weekend running with Fast Houston in Fort Bend on Saturday in a regional NFA 7v7 tournament. Chapman holds numerous Power Five offers, and is excited to have picked up the likes of Kansas State, Minnesota, and Utah among others. As he prepares his summer itinerary, those schools and a few other specific teams could be on his shortlist to take visits to.

IN HIS WORDS

On Iowa State, which he mentioned as a specific school he’d like to visit

“My mind is open to everyone right now,” he said. “I’m not going to be snobby, I’m giving everyone a chance and I’m just going to pick the best school for me. I’m staying open and giving everyone a chance and see what school is a good fit for me.”

On Missouri

“They’ve really been working to show me the program and how it’s been getting better,” he said. “Their passing game has been improving each year, so they have really been selling the program.”

On TCU

“I just want to go on a visit there over the summer,” he said. “I have a good amount of interest in them, being in-state helps a lot and they throw the ball around so that helps them.”

RIVALS REACTION

Despite him not getting too detailed in his opinions of the programs involved with him, things post-spring could potentially move quickly for Chapman, who is showing more and more over the course of the spring that he’s more than a tall vertical threat down the sideline. Although he’s amassed his offer list in a relatively short period of time, he insists he’s not letting the frequency of his offers shape his opinion of the programs that have pursued him.

“It’s not like the new offers are knocking off the old offers,” he said. “It just means that they just came through more recently, so I’m just seeing what happens.”
