Poppe not in a hurry

Recently, three-star tight end Tanner Poppe saw his teammate Darian Kelly commit to Kansas. So are there any plans for the 6-foot-6, 220-pound Poppe to make an early commitment, too?
"No, I really don't think I'm going to commit early," Poppe, who is ranked by Rivals.com as the No. 44 tight end in the nation, said.

"I'm not totally sure what I want to do. I'd still say Kansas is my No. 1 team. I've talked to them off and on this summer and they're doing everything to stay in touch, but I've been really busy with other stuff to think too much about recruiting.
"I'll probably wait it out."
Poppe has scholarship offers from Kansas and Kansas State and is also being looked at by Missouri, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State. Along with football preparation, Poppe has been busy with baseball and basketball camps.
"We've been doing 7-on-7, too," Poppe said. "We go over to Pitt State every other Saturday and compete in a league over there. I've also been busy doing baseball camps, basketball camps and some AAU tournaments."
Poppe said he's starting to get excited about his senior season. It's a season that starts against rival Pittsburg Colgan.
"They usually get us, but last year we went into double overtime with them," Poppe said. "We missed a PAT that would have sent it into the third overtime. We're not going to let it happen this year."
