Pooler picks West Virginia

Dayton (Ohio) Dunbar two-star defensive tackle Jeffery Pooler released a list of finalists this past weekend that consisted of Louisville, Maryland, Temple, Tennessee and West Virginia and planned a Nov. 11 commitment date. During a ceremony at his high school Wednesday afternoon, the 6-foot-3, 285-pound Pooler announced that he had made a commitment to West Virginia.

THE BACKSTORY: Wednesday's commitment was Pooler's third of the process. He had previously committed to Toledo last winter before de-committing in May and pledging to Maryland. The Terrapins remained contenders in his recruitment even after he de-committed from them in late September, but were not expected to re-sign him. West Virginia hosted Pooler on several visits during the course of his recruitment, including for their Oct. 10 home contest against Oklahoma State.
IN HIS WORDS: "I've committed to West Virginia because it's close to home, early playing time and the home atmosphere."
RIVALS' REACTION: Even though Pooler has de-committed twice already in this process, there is good reason to think he will stick with his commitment this time around. West Virginia has always seemed to click with the Ohio native, and it became clear as this decision drew closer that they would be the choice. Pooler has the size at 6-foot-3 and 285 pounds to play defensive tackle in the Big 12, but he needs to improve other areas of his game, including strength at the point of attack and overall athleticism.
