Pony Express adds new commit

One of the better cornerback prospects in the Lone Star State has decided to commit early to the SMU Mustangs and assistant coach Jerry Bennett. So who is the latest recruit to jump on the Pony Express?
It’s Sulphur Springs, Texas, cornerback Jonathan Lindley. Lindley said he called Bennett earlier this morning to let him know that he’s ready to pledge to SMU. After a few minutes of discussion, he decided to make it official, picking SMU over offers from Baylor, UTEP and heavy interest from Iowa, North Texas, TCU and Texas.

“I love it up there at SMU,” Lindley said. “I really love the atmosphere and it’s not too far from home. Coach Bennett did a great job of recruiting me. He’s just like the coaches at my high school. He’s a funny guy that always has a great story to tell you. I wanted to play for a coach like that.”
Lindley, a first-team all-district selection as a junior after recording around 40 solo tackles, said he’s a very good lockdown corner and he has good speed to go with his 5-foot-10, 170-pound frame.
“I have been timed at 4.42 at a few summer camps, including the one at Texas,” Lindley said. “The coaches at Texas told me they wish they would have seen me earlier before they had other defensive backs commits because they wanted to offer me.
"They told me that I did really good at their camp, but I’m really excited about picking SMU. It’s going to be a great fit for me.”
