Ponder ponders decision

Four-star Miami (Fla.) Monsignor Pace safety / cornerback Lovon Ponder took his first visit of the season last weekend and was scheduled to take another this weekend before canceling due to the state championship game. He plans to take three more visits, then he will make a decision.
Ponder went to NC State and had a good trip.

“It was good,” he said. “I met with all the players and coaches, and just hung out and had fun.” He was hosted by freshman linebacker Steve Tulloch and gave the visit a 10.
“It was a great visit,” he continued. “I came in thinking it would be boring, but it turned out to be great. The players connected really well and they are tight.
“They joke around and go out with each other. There are no outcasts on the team.”
Lovon was scheduled to visit Miami this upcoming weekend, but has postponed the trip to play in his championship game. He has yet to reschedule the trip.
He will visit Oklahoma on Jan. 22 and wants to go to Georgia and Miami, and will most likely skip his last available visit. He had a in-home visit last Sunday with Coach Holliday form NC State, while Coach Shannon from Miami came in yesterday and Coach Martinez from Georgia will be in later this week.
Ponder is rated the Rivals.com No. 8 safety and has recorded 106 tackles and four interceptions going into his final game. He is 6-foot-1, weighs 190 pounds, runs the 40-yard dash in 4.45 seconds, and has a 36-inch vertical leap.
He will have no problems qualifying academically with a 3.3 GPA and an 870 on the SAT. He wants to major in either communications or computer engineering.
