Pond back from Chapel Hill

Quarterback Ryan Pond stars on the football field and on the baseball diamond for Chesapeake (Va.) Western Branch, and several schools have shown interest in his ability in both sports. This weekend he took a visit to UNC. How did it go?
"Well, I thought I was going down there to check out the football and baseball programs," said Pond. "But it kind of turned out that I was only really down there for baseball. They've still shown some interest in me for football, but I think they're more interested in me playing baseball. Clemson is still my only offer at this point."

Who sits at the top of Pond's list?
"Clemson, North Carolina and the two in-state schools (UVA and Virginia Tech) are four places I could really see myself going to. Those schools have all shown at least some interest in allowing me to play both sports, which is really a big deal for me."
Pond will be one of many recruits going to Charlottesville for the Cavs game against Florida State, and he plans on taking an official trip to Virginia Tech when the Hokies host Miami.
"Virginia Tech is mostly interested in me as a baseball player," he said. "I'll be down there on the visit mostly for baseball. After I take all my visits I'll make my decision. But probably not before then."
