Poly sleeper very productive

Long Beach (Calif.) Poly always has its share of prospects and believe it or not they also have sleeper prospects. The Jackrabbits have a player to keep your eyes on in running back Anthony Baker (5-8, 175, 4.4). Baker has been very productive for Poly this season.
Baker is an all-purpose back in every sense of the word. He is a threat running the ball as well as being a clutch receiver out of the backfield.

So far in 2003 the talented Jackrabbit running back has shown that he is, well pardons to us, but quick as a Jackrabbit, and has the moves of a Jackrabbit too.
Baker has rushed for 438 yards on 35 carries while scoring nine touchdowns. He is averaging 12.5 yards per carry.
Catching the ball is just as a threat to the opposition. He has 45 receptions for 535 yards and four touchdowns while averaging 11.9 yards per catch.
Baker also plays cornerback for Poly while he is in the rotation, he doesn’t start.
“I am getting a lot mail from schools from the Pac10, Big 10, WAC and Mountain West,” Baker said. “There was a problem with my telephone number according to my coach. It was missing a number so it was difficult getting a hold of me.”
Is there a running back that people have compared Baker to?
“My teammates compare me to Marshall Faulk and Clinton Portis,” Baker said. “I run hard and with determination.”
Who are Baker’s favorites out of the schools corresponding with him?
“My favorite schools that are writing me are Oregon, Oregon State, ASU, USC, Texas and Texas A&M,” Baker said.
Look for Baker’s recruitment to heat up over the course of the rest of the recruiting season.
