Poly RB one to watch

If there is one thing you can count on year in and year out it's that Long Beach (Calif.) Poly will have its fair share of D-I football talent. It is as dependable as the sun rising in the east and setting in the west. This season is no different.
One of those players who have a shot at signing a D-I NLI this February is running back Troy Guthrie (5-8, 195, 4.45).

Guthrie is the type of player who shines in big games. Case in point in the CIF Division I Championship game against a very tough Los Alamitos Guthrie rushed for 108 yards on 15 carries.
What was really impressive about Guthrie's performance was the majority of his yardage came in the fourth quarter during crunch time and helped put the game away.
On the season Guthrie rushed for 1,442 yards and 21 touchdowns. He also a nifty receiver out of the backfield catching 14 passes for 141 yards.
Guthrie earned first-team all-CIF and first-team all-league for his performance in 2004.
Guthrie is also pretty strong for a guy his size. He currently benches 315 and squats 415.
The scouting report on Guthrie is he has great vision and breakaway speed. He's not afraid to run inside the tackles and with his speed he's a threat to turn the corner for big yards on a sweep.
Guthrie is getting recruiting attention from Washington, Washington State, Oregon and UCLA.
What is Guthrie looking for in a school?
"Athletically, I'm looking for good team with good team chemistry," Guthrie said. "Academically I want to major in business so the school I choose will have to be strong in business."
