Poly QB beginning to shine

Long Beach (Calif.) Poly quarterback Leon Jackson, III (6-2, 190, 4.58) has done great job taking over the reins as the offensive leader for a very explosive Jackrabbit team.
In Poly’s opening game Jackson threw for 230 yards and two touchdowns to a very impressive victory over Los Angeles (Calif.) Westchester 45-0.

Proving it was no fluke Jackson and his Poly teammates traveled to Honolulu, Hawaii to take on Hawaii’s two-time state champions Kahuku.
Jackson was even more impressive across the sea and thousands of miles from home. His clutch passing helped Poly to a huge victory over Kahuku.
Jackson and his Poly teammates came out hot and had an excellent mix of passing and running plays. Poly took advantage of Kuhuku’s turnovers and jumped out to a 14-0 point before many fans were able to get to their seats.
Jackson hit on his first four passes and two of his completions went for touchdowns.
Jackson ended the night hitting on 6 of 13 passes for 172 yards and two touchdowns. He could have easily had three more completions that were dropped. Maybe the most important stat is he didn’t throw any interceptions and was sacked. Jackson picked up 16 yards on the ground on only three carries.
Jackson was a commanding presence Saturday evening and was able to deliver when the Jackrabbits needed a big play. Jackson showed incredible poise and was very cool under fire.
If Jackson continues to improve and shows the kind of ability that he displayed Saturday evening against Kahuku look for Jackson’s offer count to grow. He presently has offers from Washington State and Kansas.
What makes offers from WSU and KU interesting is both schools have outstanding talent evaluators. The new group at KU has been at the helm less than year and the Jayhawks will be a team to watch in the future. WSU of course has done a great job over the years.
What is Jackson looking for in a school?
“A school that produces a friendly, but competitive environment,” Jackson said. “I also want to attend a school that his academically challenging too.”
Cal, UCLA, USC, Colorado, Nebraska and UNLV are showing interest in Jackson. He has tentative visit set with Washington at the end of the month.
One team that Jackson would love to hear from is the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame, but he hasn’t heard from the Irish yet.
If Jackson continues to play the way he thus far this season, he just might get that call from the Irish.
