Plenty of news from Dodge City C.C.

Dodge City (Kan.) C.C. has a solid group of players that are getting some serious looks from the Division I schools. The group is headlined by three three-star recruits and each of them has had an interesting twist in their recruiting status over the past few weeks.
Don't look for three-star defensive tackle Kellen Belcher on the Division I level next year, Dodge City assistant coach Jared Powers said. It looks like he'll have to take another route to play after this season is over.

"With his grades, he'll likely have to go D-II," Powers said. "You have to really feel for Kellen because things didn't work out. He's for sure a high-level Division I player, but he's going to have to play on a lower level because he didn't get things taken care of in the classroom. Somebody is going to get themselves a very good player, but it's not going to be a D-I school."
Powers said three-star offensive guard Sylvester Hatten, who is 6-foot-4 and 325 pounds, has been offered a scholarship by Kansas and will take a visit to Lawrence this weekend.
"He's been offered by them and they really want him," Powers said. "He had something going on with Troy earlier, and I think he's pretty excited about the offer from Kansas. There's a good chance if he likes things then that's where he'll be playing at next year."
Hatten is a December grad. He visited Troy State back in late October.
The other big time player at Dodge City is three-star receiver Kenard Burton. The 5-foot-9, 175-pounder said earlier this week he was slated to visit Kansas State and Iowa State over the next two weekends, but Powers doesn't think he'll make either visit.
"I don't think he's going to be going to K-State this weekend," Powers said. "And he was also being recruited by the old staff at Iowa State. So I don't think he's on the new staff's radar quite yet.
"He still has a very good option from Troy. I wouldn't say he's committed to them or anything quite yet, but they're definitely a top school for him. He's kind of sitting back and looking for some good options at this point. It's still kind of up in the air what might happen with him."
