When it comes to education, few teams match up to Northwestern, so when it was time to make a pick Deante Battle of Fayetteville (Ga.) Starr’s Mill went with the books.

“It was just too good of an opportunity to pass up,” Battle, the three-star cornerback said. “When you look at the big picture, football is only a piece of the puzzle and the rest like academics is key.”
And that’s why he picked Northwestern over Georgia Tech, Colorado, Duke and N.C. State.
Battle is 5-foot-10, 187-pounds and runs a 4.45-second 40-yard dash. He is also a smart kid off the field with an 1180 on the SAT.
