Pitt-West Virginia battle for ATH

Athlete Maurice Williams out of Erie (Pa.) Strong Vincent holds six scholarship offers and continues to receive plenty of interest from other schools. Does the 6-foot-3, 190-pounder have any favorites?
"He's got offers from Connecticut, Maryland, Pittsburgh, Syracuse, West Virginia and Kent," Strong Vincent coach Chris Spooner said. "He's also getting mail from just about everybody else including UCLA, Maryland, Georgia, Ohio State and others.

"I don't think he's favoring anyone at this time. He has been to Pittsburgh quite a lot and even checked out West Virginia, but I can't say there is a clear favorite. It's just too early right now."
Williams is a versatile athlete that could play a number of positions in college according to Spooner.
"He's a very gifted athlete that can do whatever he wants on the field with his great speed and escape ability," he said. "He is a strong armed quarterback, but probably more projects as a wide receiver or defensive back.
"Most of the schools right now are looking at him at wide receiver I'd say and I think that is what he prefers to play because he could have a chance to go right in and play. He stands out at the position because of his size, speed and great hands. He is also very tough to tackle. Defensively he is a shutdown cornerback on everyone he faces.
"Mo has decent grades and is a very coachable kid. He is a leader on our team that works hard in practice and on the field. He'll do whatever the coaches ask of him."
The Erie prospect accounted for over 1,600 yards and 20 touchdowns. He added 59 tackles and three interceptions on defense on his way to earning all-region honors as a junior.
Williams is considering heading to camps at Pittsburgh, West Virginia and Penn State this summer.
