Pitt adds to impressive class

Pitt received another verbal commitment over the weekend, giving yet another boost to one of the nation's most surprising recruiting classes. The Panthers went to New York for this highly touted athlete.
"I've committed to Pitt," said wide receiver / all-purpose back Derek Kinder. "For me, as a receiver, it helped a lot to see a guy like Larry Fitzgerald have so much success at Pitt. I'm not going to be one of the fastest receivers in the country while I'm in college, but I can get down the field and make plays. It was really good to see that he was able to develop so well in Pitt's offense. I'm very impressed with their coaching staff."

The 6-foot-2, 197-pound athlete from Albion, N.Y. runs the 40-yard dash in 4.55 seconds. What other schools did he consider before verballing to Pitt?
"There were three that I was seriously considering, other than Pitt," he said. "Boston College, because of their academics, was pretty high. I liked Maryland a lot because they're a program on the rise, and Syracuse was a third I was really interested in. All three of those schools offered me scholarships, which is flattering, because they're all great places. I just couldn't pass up a chance to play at Pitt.
Kinder has scored a 1060 on his SAT and won't have any trouble qualifying to play next year for Pitt.
