Pitt adds Jersey product

Pittsburgh added another pledge earlier today. The Panthers picked up a commitment from a 6-foot-1, 167-pound prospect out of the Garden State.
"I committed this morning on my official visit to Pittsburgh," Jersey City (N.J.) Hudson Catholic prospect Jason Hendricks said. "I told Coach Wannstedt. He was happy. He welcomed me to the family."
What did Hendricks like about Pittsburgh?
"I liked the support around the academic area," he said. "They have a lot of support there. I like the place too and the players made me feel like I was part of the team already.
"I was hosted by Antwuan Reed. He treated me like I was on the team."
The coaches were a factor as well.
"I like all of them," he said. "They've got an NFL staff, everybody is experienced there. They have all been to the highest level. When I was with the players, they had nothing but good things to say about the coaches. That is a reflection on the player coach relationship there. I just loved it."
As for playing time, Hendricks believes he could have a shot to earn a spot as soon as this fall.
"They want me to play safety and they aren't that deep in the safety spot. There is a chance for me to play this fall."
Hendricks committed to Pittsburgh over offers from Syracuse, Temple, Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan and James Madison among others.
