Position: Defensive Back
Size and speed: Pinder is 5-foot-11, weighs 180 pounds and runs the 40-yard dash in 4.5 seconds.
Statistics: As a junior, he recorded 55 tackles and six interceptions. He has 14 career interceptions.
Honors: Was selected third-team All-Dade County as a defensive back.
Favorite Schools: Miami, Florida, Florida State, UCF, USF, Michigan, Syracuse Rutgers.
Skinny: Miami’s Killian High School is home to one of the Sunshine State’s top defensive backs in Barry Pinder.
“He’s a kid with a lot of natural ability,” said Killian coach Billy Rolle. “He doesn’t have the great size or the blazing 40 time, but he’s got some instincts that make up for that. He’s a good one-on-one guy who really breaks on the ball. He’s had 14 interceptions in his career, six last season. That’s what people want to see in a cornerback – a playmaker.”
Pinder is a three-year starter and made the All-Dade County Team as a junior.
He’s receiving early interest from Central Florida, South Florida, Michigan, Syracuse and Rutgers.
“He’s a guy who’s going to get a lot more attention by the end of his senior season,” Rolle said. “He’s a little unknown right now, but he’s got a lot of potential.”
