Pinckney makes midweek visit

College visits are usually reserved for the weekends during the fall, but Sylvania (Ohio) Southview athlete JayJay Pinckney made a Tuesday visit to a Big ten program.
"I have been in touch with Michigan State a lot and was just there [Tuesday] watching a practice and speaking with coaches," Pinckney said. "They invited me up there to come see them because I really hadn't seen them practice before.

"It was good just to really see the team outside the game and get the things you don't get from watching from the stands or on TV. I definitely got out of it more than I went in there with, so that was obviously a positive thing."
Tuesday's visit to East Lansing left little doubt in Pinckney's mind that the Spartan's sit atop his interest list.
"Obviously they are No. 1 right now and I am getting closer and closer to committing," Pinckney said. "It will be definitely within these next couple weeks."
The 6-foot-3, 172-pound Pinckney could play wide receiver or defensive back in college. Michigan State projects him on the offensive side of the football.
"They would have me on the outside and could incorporate me on the inside too with my speed and lateral quickness," Pinckney said.
Pinckney attended Michigan State's last home game on Nov. 2 and plans to make another unofficial visit for their final home game on Nov. 30.
Although Pinckney looks destined for East Lansing, he does still maintain contact with other schools.
"At Cincinnati I am in contact with Coach [Steven] Clinkscale," Pinckney said. "I talked to him about a week ago and just keep in touch on everything down there in Cincinnati."
Sylvania Southview just missed out on the Ohio state playoffs this season, finishing with a 7-3 record.
