Pierce looking to stay in Texas
Longview, Texas, cornerback James Pierce said before the college coaches could call on September 1 that he was seriously looking hard at Texas Tech, SMU and TCU. Now that the coaches are able to call him for two weeks, has that changed at all?
“It really hasn’t,” Pierce, who is 6-foot-1 and 180 pounds, said. “I’m still looking hard and getting calls from TCU, Texas Tech and SMU. I missed calls from Tennessee and Kansas, though. I hope they call back.”

Pierce said he has scheduled one official visit.
“I’m going to Texas Tech on November 26th,” Pierce said. “I’m going to go out there and check it out with my teammate, Carderra Hunter.”
Don’t expect Pierce to go out there and commit right away, he said. That’s because he is a little concerned about being that far away from home – something he said he wouldn’t have to worry about at TCU and SMU.
“I’m definitely going to visit them because they’re a lot closer to home,” he said. “I just want to go check a few schools out and make sure I’m going to be able to make the right decision and see how far it’s away from home.”
