Pickett makes early trimming

Adarius Pickett just trimmed his list but the four-star cornerback from El Cerrito, Calif., still has a long way to go before reaching a decision.
"I just narrowed down my list to 13," Pickett said. "This is in no order - Utah, Cal, Arizona State, UCLA, USC, Washington, Oregon State, Stanford, Nebraska, Purdue, Northwestern, Virginia and Houston.

"As of right now I think I'm going to talk to some coaches about scheduling some official visits here soon as it gets closer to the season and hopefully I might break down the list again to six or seven."
Nothing has been finalized for Pickett, fresh off his trip to the Rivals100 Five-Star Challenge, and he said some programs came through this spring and they want to see him during the season before considering an offer.
Official visits are going to be worked on soon as Pickett tries to figure out which situation works best for him.
"Some schools can jump back in because nothing is final," Pickett said. "These are just my feelings right now.
"Some schools that came through during the spring said they're going to watch me during the season but we'll see what happens with that."
El Cerrito teammate and close friend Derik Calhoun will be announcing his commitment in the coming days and that could play a factor for Pickett as well.
The four-star cornerback said Calhoun's choice will play an influence but not be a determining factor when he decides, meaning that it's no guarantee the two will play together in college.
"I'll pay attention to what my friend D.J. does, he's like a brother, so whatever decision he makes I'll see," Pickett said.
"At the end of the day I'm going to pick the school that's best for me though. If it happens we go to the same school it's because it's the best for me, too, I'm not just going to follow him."
