Player vs. player comparisons are always fun to debate and in Pick Your Poison, I take two of the top players in the country at the same position, make a case for both and determine the winner.

The Case For Nolan Smith

Smith was a five star out of high school and has made a solid impact at UGA as a hybrid. He has 39 tackles so far in two seasons and five sacks but he is expected to break out this season in a big way with Azeez Ojulari gone as the primary pass rusher. His production hasn't been what has been expected early on but trust me this is a kid with potential first or second round ability and he should put it together this season.

The Case For William Anderson

Anderson was very impressive in his true freshman year registering seven sacks in an All-SEC schedule and he had 52 tackles and 10.5 for a loss. He's already been nicknamed The Terminator for his non-stop pursuit and motor and he has a chance to be a top five pick in the 2023 NFL Draft if he keeps developing. His numbers are what we expected from Smith early in his career.

The Winner

Two impressive SEC pass rushers who could reach double digit sacks next year and will be tough to defend and gameplan for, Smith and Anderson both have amazing ability. But what I've seen from Anderson so far, as a true freshman in that Alabama defense, gives him the easy nod here for me. And it's not that close.
