Photo of backdrop may hint at Big 12 expansion announcement

Not everything on the Internet is true, and sometimes a backdrop is just a backdrop.

Either could apply in this situation but regardless of whether or not Cincinnati will be announced as a new Big 12 member on Monday night, a press conference backdrop that ties the Bearcats to the league seems to exist.

The backdrop appeared in the below Snapchat photo shared by the Twitter user Will Hutto at the handle @LegalizeWill, who insinuated with his since-deleted tweet that the university had requested its creation for an event scheduled to take place on Monday evening. The photo began making its rounds on the Internet Monday afternoon and was deleted shortly thereafter. While the photograph confirms nothing about Cincinnati’s future with the Big 12, it makes for interesting fodder.

After deleting the photo, the same Twitter account sent a followup tweet with the below explanation.

The Big 12 is currently discussing expansion in a conference meeting and is expected to make some sort of announcement at a press conference at approximately 6:30 ET on Monday.
