Phipps nearing decision

Three-star linebacker Ryan Phipps (6-0, 210, 4.44) Corona (Calif.) Centennial could be closing in on a decision that will make one lucky college very happy. Phipps is having an outstanding senior season. In the words of his highly touted teammate three-star running back Terrell Jackson said, “Ryan seems to be in on every play.”
Phipps is a ball-hawking linebacker who has racked up 105 tackles, five sacks, one safety, one blocked field goal and one pick in seven games this season.

Phipps has offers from Oregon, Arizona, Colorado, Colorado State, Wyoming, Hawaii, San Diego State and Brigham Young.
Phipps had already taken one trip to Colorado on October 17th and he had a great visit to the CU campus.
“I loved my trip to Colorado,” Phipps said. “It was awesome.”
“It was my first trip and I didn’t have anything to compare it to,” Phipps said. “My trip to Oregon will give me something to gage CU with.”
“I am looking forward to my trip to Oregon,” Phipps said. “It should be a good trip too.”
Phipps is also in the process of setting up trips to Arizona and San Diego State. Arizona could get a visit on January 9th but the truth is his recruitment may not go that far.
Phipps could make a decision this weekend between CU and Oregon after his trip to the Eugene campus.
Because of the devastating fires that Southern California suffered through last week. Many games were canceled.
Phipps and his Centennial teammates have their work cut out for them. Centennial and many of the high schools in the area will have to play three games in ten days.
Centennial hooks up with Norco, Calif., this afternoon (November 5th) Mira Loma (Calif.) Jurupa Valley on Monday (November 10th) and Corona (Calif.) Santiago Friday (November 14th).
That’s a lot of football. Hopefully it will help ease the pain that many were suffering a week ago.
