Phillips still mulling options

Columbia (S.C.) Spring Valley quarterback B.J. Phillips is one of the top signal callers in the Palmetto State. He recently added a new scholarship offer and is looking to take more trips.
"I had offers from Kentucky, Rutgers, Maryland and North Carolina, but Vanderbilt offered not too long ago," Phillips said. "I'm getting attention from some other schools still, but those schools are really the ones that are on me pretty big right now."

The 6-foot-6, 229-pound Phillips attended the NIKE camp in Athens where he ran the 40-yard dash in 4.83 seconds, ran the shuttle in 4.37 seconds and posted a 26-inch vertical jump.
"Right now I haven't really began to narrow it down too much," Phillips said. "I am looking at all the schools that have offered and some others. I really want to get to Kentucky soon and see some more places."
As a junior Phillips threw for 1,496 yards and eight touchdowns, completing 50-percent of his passes.
"I want to make a decision before Christmas and really even before that if possible," Phillips said. "I will use a few of my official visits, but I really doubt that I am going to be taking all of my visits."
Phillips is ranked as the No. 15 player in the state of South Carolina by Rivals.com.
"I am looking at what a school has to offer academically most," Phillips said. "I want to take everything into consideration from the coaching staff, to facilities to playing to how far it is from home."
