Columbia (S.C.) Spring Valley quarterback B.J. Phillips has yet to take any of his official visits, but the 6-foot-5, 229-pound three-star prospect will be changing that very soon as he gets down to business setting trips.
Rated as the No. 15 overall prospect in the state of South Carolina, Phillips has gathered offers from Kentucky, Maryland, North Carolina, Rutgers, and Vanderbilt so far. He will start to check out some of those schools very soon.
"I've got them lined up," Phillips said about trips. "I talked to the Vanderbilt coaches today and I haven't set that date yet, but that will be soon. I've got a trip lined up to North Carolina on Nov. 5. I'll go to Kentucky on Nov. 26. Those three are the ones I know for sure right now."
The reason that Phillips has set those three up first is because the No. 28 rated pro-style quarterback feels those programs have shown the most interest thus far.
"Those three are probably the early favorites or right up there," Phillips said. "Of course, they've also offered so that pushes them up there."
As for taking all five official visits before deciding, Phillips is planning on playing that by ear.
"I know I'm going to take these three and I'll have to see about the rest," Phillips said. "if someone else wants me to come on a trip, I'll come. I'm not even sure if I will or if I'll be able to."
Phillips also was thinking about committing in the near future, but will not divulge which team he's leaning to at this time.
