Phillips eliminates one, schedules official

Miami (Fla.) Carol City safety Kenneth Phillips is without a doubt one of the nation's best players and has all of the credentials to prove his No. 4 overall national ranking from Rivals.com. He trimmed his list to four early in the process, but he is now down to three schools.
"I am down to an all Florida final three," Phillips said. "It is going to be between Florida, Florida State and Miami. LSU is pretty much out of the picture at this point."

The 6-foot-2, 195-pound Phillips is the nation’s No. 4 player overall and the consensus No. 1 safety in the country.
"I have an official visit set up with Florida for the weekend of January 21," Phillips said. "I was going to take it the first weekend in January, but I am going to play in the U.S. Army All-Star game that weekend."
Phillips has helped lead defending 6A champ Carol City to a 4-1 start. So far this year he has no interceptions, because no one has thrown at him. He does, however, have "a bunch of tackles."
"I haven't been to any games yet this year," Phillips said. "I just have not really had the chance to do it yet. I am planning on going to the Louisville-Miami game this Thursday though. I am planning on waiting until after the season to take my three official visits."
