During the month of September, Sloan El has been contacted by coaches from Virginia, Minnesota, Hofstra, and West Virginia. Although he liked all of them, Coach Woodson from Iowa really stood out to him.
After looking at his options, Andre said five schools are currently still on his list: Iowa, Clemson, Syracuse, Minnesota, and Maryland. Why have these schools made the cut?
“Iowa is a program that is rebuilding, and they have good academics,” he said. “Clemson is location. I like the South, and they are rebuilding, too.
“Marvin Harrison from my high school went to Syracuse, and Minnesota is showing a lot of interest and has good academics. I have visited Maryland twice, and I like the way things are run, and the coaches.”
Sloan El has offers from Kent State and Iowa, and has been told by his other favorites that one could be coming soon. They just want to see the first highlight tapes from his senior season.
Andre has not set up any official visits, but Minnesota was interested in scheduling one when they called this month. In addition to his two trips to Maryland, he has also taken unofficial trips to Virginia, Syracuse, and Clemson, and camped at Clemson and the Elite 11 camp this summer.
Showing his skills both on the ground and through the air, Sloan El passed for 1,400 yards last season and rushed for more than 500 yards. He recorded 14 touchdowns overall. Already this season, in just one game, he passed for 115 yards and three touchdowns, and added 45 yards on the ground.
Andre maintains a 3.1 GPA and is scheduled to take the SAT in October.
