Pettway talks about his Alabama commitment

The Tide is rolling right now with commitments, coming off their spring game weekend. The latest is from a big time defensive prospect from the Sunshine State, as just a few minutes ago, Pensacola, Fla. defensive lineman D.J. Pettway made it official and committed to Alabama.
“Yeah, I did it earlier today,” Pettway said. “I committed around 11:40 (central). I called coach (Nick) Saban and he was very happy about it. He’s glad the process is over for me and ready for us to move on.”

While Pettway is happy with his decision it didn’t come easy for him.
“No it wasn’t. Florida State made a late run. It was tough and a hard decision. But I came home from Alabama this weekend and talked about everything with my mom and dad. In the end I just realized Alabama was the best place for me. The distance is nice and I love that hometown feeling I get there. Alabama has a real good staff and that team plays together. They are a big family.”
Pettway, 6-3 and 255 pounds, will be one of the top rated defensive end prospects from the state of Florida. He finished his junior season with 85 tackles, 25 tackles for a loss and 16 sacks.
