Pettway plans at least four visits

Khalil Pettway committed to SMU in mid-July but also made it clear especially to the Mustangs' coaching staff that he would be interested in taking other visits to see what else is out there.
Now with the college football season in full swing, the three-star inside linebacker from Culver City, Calif., is starting to figure out which official visits would work best and Pettway said he'd prefer to take all his trips during the season.

"I'm trying to take all my visits during the season because I want to go during football season to see how everything is and I want to see what the atmosphere is like," Pettway said.
"That was one of the first things (the SMU coaching staff) told me was that I could still look around and it was OK if I took my trips and everything."
No visits have been scheduled yet but Pettway, a 6-foot-4, 205-pound prospect has offers from SMU, NC State, West Virginia and Washington State and said he'd like to visit all four places.
"I'm trying to start dealing with my visits right now," said Pettway, who is also hearing from Arizona State, San Diego State and a few others. "I don't have any dates set right now but I'm working on that.
"I'm still looking around and what not. I'm still talking with them and keeping up my relationship with SMU. All my visits are important though."
Rivals.com rates Pettway, who shined at multiple B2G events this off-season, as the No. 35 inside linebacker in the 2012 class and No. 88 in the California state rankings.
He is one of three California standouts already committed to SMU joining four-star wide receiver Gabriel Marks and three-star all-purpose back Robert Lewis in the class.
All three prospects are going to take visits so it could be some time - maybe even until National Signing Day - until their futures are figured out.
