Pettigrew grabbing SEC offers

New Orleans (La.) St. Augustine 2016 Rivals250 tight end Jamal Pettigrew continues to add to his offer list. The 6-foot-5, 215-pound standout has seen his offer list grow to six with with two more additions to his list over the last few weeks.
The most recent scholarship offer arrived on August 7 from Ole Miss, who became his third SEC scholarship offer.
"I was very excited," Pettigrew said. "It was good talking to coach Harris and coach Heard and hearing from them and knowing I got the offer. I want to go take a visit up there."
He does not have a visit scheduled to Oxford at this point, but he does plan to make a visit during the season.
Before the Rebels, Pettigrew received an offer from the LSU Tigers. The offer came on the heels of a strong camp performance in late-July. Going into the camp Pettigrew had a plan, and it worked.
"I went to Baton Rouge with the mindset I was going to go out there and do my best and perform very well," Pettigrew said. "That's exactly what happened. I put my all into it and caught everything that touched my hands and performed very high and got the offer."
Pettigrew's area recruiter for LSU is running backs coach Frank Wilson, and the two have well established, strong relationship.
"Me and coach Frank, we have a great relationship because he went to the same high school I go to," Pettigrew said. "He's from the same area I'm from in the west of New Orleans. We just have a great connection. He knows my uncle. They're like best friends too, so we have a great connection."
Pettigrew plans to attend LSU's contest with Alabama in November.
In addition to his recent SEC offers Pettigrew is also receiving considerable attention from Auburn. The Tigers want to see his early game film from the 2014 season. He is also hearing from Alabama.
Pettigrew currently holds offers from Florida, Louisville, LSU, Ole Miss, Nebraska, and Tulane. At this point he is not naming a leader, but he does have plans for the near future.
"I don't really have any favorites, but in the season I might start making my favorites and commit during the season," Pettigrew said.
He is currently ranked No. 179 in the 2016 Rivals250, No. 8 among the nation's 2016 tight ends, and No. 13 in the Louisiana Initial Top 30 for 2016.
