"I have five scholarship offers so far," the 6-foot-2, 205-pound Peterson said. "Texas A&M, Texas, Oklahoma, TCU and LSU have offered. LSU was the most recent to offer. But I'm not close to deciding anything at all. I want to take my trips and learn as much as I can before deciding anything."
Peterson's interest isn't limited to the five schools with offers on the table.
"UCLA, Miami, Nebraska, Notre Dame and some others are sending me stuff too. I'm just trying to take it all in right now and then pick the right schools to visit before making a decision. I plan to take all five of my official visits before making a choice."
Peterson has a list of items he will look for in a school when it comes time to make a decision.
"I would like to play early," he said. "So playing time will be a factor. The location of the school is another thing I will consider. It won't be the deciding thing, but I will look at it. I also will look at the type of education I can get from the school."
As a junior, Peterson ran for 2,051 yards and 22 touchdowns while all-state honors and being named District-4A Most Valuable Player.
Earlier on, Peterson had planned on going to some football camps during the summer to show off his talents and pick up some pointers, but those plans have changed.
"I had been planning on going to at least the Texas camp and probably the A&M camp too. But I've put those on the back burner now. I'm leaning toward just staying here an taking some classes during the summer to help me out on that end."
