Rivals250 offensive guard Peter White took his first official visit over the weekend. The Washington (D.C.) St. John's College lineman made the short trip over to Maryland last weekend.
"It went really well," he said. "I got there Friday and went to all the academic buildings. I hadn't done that before. It was good. I talked to the coaching staff and met with the players."
White was hosted on the trip by Kenny Tate.
"It was really good with him," he said. "He's a really good guy. I never really talked to him before, but he told me he loved it and I'll take him at his word."
While on campus, White attended the basketball game against Delaware State.
"It was good," he said. "The Maryland basketball team is really good. The atmosphere there was good too. There were a lot of people for a small team."
One other part of his weekend stuck out.
"I really liked going to the ESPNZone in Washington D.C.," he said. "That was the highlight for me. I got to bond with the coaches and really talk to the other recruits. They are good guys."
Before heading out on Sunday, Whtie met with Maryland's coaches.
"I talked to Coach Brattan and Coach Friedgen," he stated. "We talked about what we normally talk about, football and what they are doing to prepare for the bowl game. It was good."
What is next for White?
"I have narrowed my list down to three schools," he said. "They are Maryland, Tennessee and Miami. I'm going to Tennessee on January 16th and then possibly to Miami on January 23rd.
"I'm down to these schools because of the connection I have with the coaches. They are all a good distance from my family and have great academics."
