Perry starting to consider visits

For now, Jackson Perry's biggest recruiting crossroads pits Nebraska versus the Ivy League. The Las Vegas Bishop Gorman High School defensive lineman wants to be a doctor. That's not a desire he's willing to compromise.
But while a cluster of Ivy League schools have invited him onto their football teams, he says the appeal of Nebraska and its pre-med program is still very real and very wide-ranging. According to Perry, this is not a decision that pits football against academics. His thought process goes much deeper than that.

"It's funny, a lot of people don't know about Nebraska," Perry said. "Most people have no idea that on top of being a great football team, Nebraska has the most Academic All-Americans. They have more than any school … obviously other than the Ivy Leagues. They have the most in the nation by far. Nobody really knows that."
And so Perry will take visits. Plenty of them. Dates are in the process of being set, but a blueprint is already in place. All that's left now is to finalize the details.
"I have talked about officials," Perry said. "Our quarterback has a lot of Ivy interest. We are going to take Ivy league officials when the season is over. I'm obviously going to take a Nebraska official, too. I'm not really sure who the last one is gonna be."
Perry plans to tour Harvard, Yale and Columbia in addition to Nebraska, but has not set up any dates at the time being. A decision won't come until well after the season, so it's not as though Perry is feeling much pressure.
"As the season winds down, I'll get more into my decision making," Perry said. "All the schools are talking to me a lot, though. There's not one school that is sticking out in the race. Those officials will be my last-chance look at what I'm getting."
Perry's official to Nebraska will be the only in-season trip he takes. And while he has not set the date in stone just yet, the Huskers' coaching staff is targeting Oct. 19 for the visit.
