Perry gets coveted offer

The scholarship offer that Keller (Texas) Fossil ridge defensive tackle Chris Perry has been waiting on finally came. But, a commitment is not out in the open just yet.
The 6-foot-3, 319-pound player has hauled in offers from major programs like Arkansas, Ole Miss, Oklahoma State, Texas A&M, Nebraska, and others. However, Miami has been the long time favorite. Perry found out this evening that the offer has finally come.

"After practice, my coach had been chewing me out but he was doing it to show the all the colleges watching that I would work harder," Perry said. "I deserved it because it was my first day at right guard. It paid off because he told me that Miami offered me."
Notre Dame also was a school that appeared close to offering, but it may not matter for the top Texan.
"It's pretty much a done deal," Perry said. "The only reason I didn't commit because the coaches wanted me to come down this June and do it face-to-face. I talked to coach Mario Cristobal and we're setting it up right now.
"Otherwise I was going to commit tonight. They just said come down and see if I like it."
Perry says that it's about half and half as to who is recruiting him for offensive and defensive line. Most, like Miami, are recruiting him for defensive tackle.
