Perkins another RB to watch

With all of the running back prospects picking up recruiting interest in the early stages of spring, it can be hard not to lose track. One to keep an eye on is Carrollton (Texas) Newman Smith running back Dre Perkins.
At 5-foot-9, 193 pounds, Perkins definitely has the size to be a very quick and speedy running back in several offenses. His track schedule keeps him busy and allows him to maintain speed in the off-season. With spring ball just getting underway, mail is starting to heat up.

"Oklahoma, SMU, Arkansas, Vanderbilt, Kansas, TCU, and a bunch of schools are sending me stuff," Perkins said. "I'd say Arkansas and SMU are on me the hardest right now. They send e-mails, tell me happy birthday, and it's at least three or four letters a week from them."
Perkins says that he was planning on taking a trip to Kansas, but transportation is difficult with gas prices. However, he's thinking about camps for the summer.
"I'm looking at Oklahoma and TCU," Perkins said. "I haven't set anything up yet, but I've thought about those quite a bit."
As for what he's looking for in a school, Perkins has many things on his mind.
"I would just like playing time," he said. "Education and location is also big. I want to be able to come home and have my family see me play."
