Perine could be in for big spring

Lamical Perine seems more concerned with the near future than he is with the current state of his recruitment. He isn't interested in naming favorites at the time being despite currently holding scholarship offers from six colleges.
Instead, the Theodore (Ala.) High School running back is hoping his options expand. After all, he has some reason to believe they will. It's not as though things on the recruiting front have gone quiet.

"South Carolina and Georgia are talking to me," Perine said. "They're going to be down in the spring to see me and decide on an offer or whatever then."
Still, Perine won't sit around and wait for every interested party to come to him. He intends to take his talent on the road. According to the three-star back, he plans to make stops at Mississippi State, Florida, Alabama, UCLA and possibly Oregon.
He'll hope to earn offers in the process, sure, but he'll also do some inspecting of his own.
"I'm looking at the academics," Perine said. "I'm looking for early playing time too."
Also important to Perine is the type of offense any given program runs. He's open to differing styles but says that his talent fits better with some schemes than it does with others.
"I'm a downhill running back," he said. "That's the kind of offense I want to play in, but I'm able to do anything."
Perine currently holds scholarship offers from Colorado State, Louisiana-Lafayette, Louisiana Tech, Mississippi State, South Alabama and Southern Miss. He claims that every school has offered stands on level footing for the time being.
He also says an offer from Florida or Alabama would change that drastically.
"It would be hard to deny both of those schools," Perine said.
Perine plans to announce a commitment in late June or early July. That timetable is very much subject to change at any moment.
