Penson headed to North Texas
Lufkin, Texas linebacker A.J. Penson took an official visit to North Texas this weekend and wrapped up his recruiting process.
The 6-foot-1, 215-pounder has had plenty of experience playing against Todd Dodge when Dodge was leading Southlake Carroll. With his previous experience and meeting him on the visit, Penson decided that North Texas was the place for him.

"It was good, I committed," Penson said. "I just liked North Texas and it's great what coach Dodge has going on there. I've played against him and I know how his teams play. I just wanted to be a part of that."
Penson said that the topic of playing time came up.
"Coach Dodge just told me to come in with the mentality of not redshirting because I'm probably going to play," Penson said. "They haven't ruled out redshirting though."
So is this the last visit or is Penson still looking?
"This is probably going to be it," he said. "I'm just going to be solid and sign on Feb. 7."
