Penson has in-state leader
Lufkin, Texas inside linebacker A.J. Penson hasn't had a slot start to his recruiting process. Three scholarship offers are still on the table with several other possibilities out there.
The 6-foot-1, 215-pounder has been offered officially by Houston, Iowa State, and UTEP so far. Right now, one of those teams is leading the others and another Big 12 school has made a verbal offer.

"Well, I've been offered verbally by Nebraska," Penson said. "Right now though, Houston is on top. It's a pretty good school. I just like the coaches and the atmosphere there."
Penson says that location will play a factor in his decision and also is a big reason why the Cougars lead for his services.
"That's a big deal to me," Penson said about location. "I'm going to try to stay somewhere close. Then again, I have to also look at who the best offer is."
Penson says he'll wait until after the season to think about making a commitment.
Indiana and Texas A&M are two other schools showing a lot of interest.
