Pensacola DL sees interest rise

Pensacola (Fla.) Pine Forest defensive end Jimmy Avery has been busy worrying about hurricanes, unfortunately like millions of people around Florida have had to do over the last two months.
“I have verbal offers from Central Florida, Auburn, LSU and Florida now,” Avery said. “Louisville and South Florida have been calling me and stuff recently too. We have only played one game so far this year because of hurricanes so I really don’t have any senior film to send out.”

The 6-foot-3, 260-pound Avery runs the 40-yard dash in 4.68 seconds and has an amazing 38-inch vertical jump.
“I would say the main four schools that I am looking at right now are Auburn, Florida, South Florida and Iowa,” Avery said. “I have not set up any official visits yet, but I know that I want to take those before I decide anything.”
In the one Pine Forest game this season Avery collected seven tackles and had two sacks. This week he hopes to add to his stats when they take on Navarre.
“I am looking for a place that can offer me early playing time,” Avery said. “When coaches call I ask them if they think I can contribute early. I want to play in a good atmosphere and go to a school with a high graduation rate.”
