Pennsylvania power

The 2006 Pennsylvania preseason Top 50
The recruiting class of 2006 for the state of Pennsylvania is arguably the best crop of talent in decades and certainly the best class since the heralded class of 2001 which was led by stars like running back Kevin Jones, cornerback Marlin Jackson, linebackers Joe Dipre and Michael Bazemore and linemen Tyler Reed, Troy Banner and others.

Jones was the consensus No. 1 overall player in the country that year and lived up to such billing with an outstanding career at Virginia Tech and a bright future in the NFL with the Detroit Lions.
This year Pennsylvania has another top running back, Harrisburg (Pa.) Bishop McDevitt's LeSean McCoy, who is challenging for No. 1. In addition, there are seven other Pennsylvania players in the Rivals100 so far with many others just on the cusp.
Quarterbacks Zach Frazer, Pat Devlin and Jeremy Ricker are possibly the most talented trio of signal-callers to come out of Pennsylvania in the same year, and this if from a state known for great quarterbacks like Dan Marino, Joe Montana, Johnny Unitas and Joe Namath.
Defense is the overall theme of this year's Pennsylvania Top 50, however, as 17 of the top 25 prospects in the state could play on that side of the ball in college.
