Kyle Penniston is one of the top 2015 tight ends in the West and last weekend he stopped by UCLA's spring practice to check out the Bruins.
The Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei standout definitely liked what he saw from the coaches, the team and the overall practice.
Florida State is the lone offer for Penniston so far but many Pac-12 schools along with a group of Big Ten programs are now involved so his recruitment could pick up at any time.
"We watched practice and we talked to the coaches so it was a nice, fun day," Penniston said of the UCLA trip. "I liked the way practice was run.
"They run it very smooth and I like the flow of the practice, how it all works. It really all goes together. They have individual and team so it looked really good."
During his trip to Westwood, Penniston got a chance to chat with some coaches and the message is basically that they want to see him at their summer camp.
The 6-foot-4, 220-pound recruit who shined at the Rivals Camp in Los Angeles is all for camping there and UCLA will be one of his stops in the coming months.
"I talked to some of the coaches," Penniston said. "We showed up a little late to practice but I talked to some of the coaches during practice but not too much. I didn't want to get in their way. I know they were coaching their kids.
"They want me to come out to their Elite Camp in June. It's like a one-day camp so they want to see me there which is good because I can go out there and prove myself. It's always good to get out there and get some competition."
Penniston plans to also compete at the upcoming Rivals Camp in Chicago and during that trip take a visit over to Northwestern which has been recruiting him much more. Ohio State and Wisconsin stops are also planned for this off-season.
The 2015 recruit plans to also camp at USC, UCLA and Washington this summer.
