Penn State, UVA lead for VA lineman

Alexandria (Va.) West Potomac coach Chris Davidson believes that offensive/defensive lineman Christian Johnson is a legitimate Division I prospect, and he's receiving a lot of interest from some big-name programs. Could there be offers on the way?
"I believe wholeheartedly that Christian is going to be a Division I player," said the West Potomac coach. "He's got great size, moves pretty well and is a strong guy. He doesn't have offers at the moment, but he's receiving a lot of attention."

Johnson is a 6-foot-3, 308-pound offensive/defensive lineman and possesses a nice combination of quickness and strength. Right when the ball is snapped he reacts and has better technique than almost anyone at his level. Is he hearing from any schools in particular?
"Yes, some prestigious schools are recruiting him," his coach said. "Virginia, Maryland, Penn State -- schools like that for the most part. At this point Virginia and Penn State are his two favorites, and I think he'll eventually get offers. Those two really seem to be his favorites."
Johnson was one of the top two-way linemen in Northern Virginia last year, and should become a more common name if he remains healthy throughout the 2003 season.
