Penn State offers Michigan LB

Warren (Mich.) De La Salle linebacker Jared Wangler has had a string of offers over the last several weeks, and on Monday he added to that list following a visit to Penn State.
"They had been calling my coach about me and wanted me to come out," Wangler said of Penn State.

"I have been talking to Coach [Ron] Vanderlinden for the past two or three days, so I wasn't really that shocked about [the offer] but I am really excited. He told me they liked the way I played in space and they could use a linebacker like me."
During his visit, Wangler also spent time talking with defensive coordinator John Butler and head coach Bill O'Brien. The experience coupled with the offer had Wangler high on the Nittany Lions driving away from State College.
"They are Linebacker U., have a great tradition and I was really impressed by everything there," Wangler said.
"They had me go on a campus tour. All the [students] were back from spring break and that was really interesting. The campus was beautiful. They had a really intense spring practice, but I only got to stay for an hour of it. It was fun to watch."
Prior to the offer from Penn State, Wangler had received offers from Bowling Green, Eastern Michigan, Ohio University, Toledo and Western Michigan. A number of other schools are showing interest and Wangler has more visits planned this month.
"Next weekend I am going to visit Northwestern and Notre Dame," Wangler said. "Northwestern has been really interested in me and talking to me a lot."
Wangler also expects to see Indiana and Ohio State later this month. For now, he is just enjoying the sudden surge in offers and attention.
"It's been really exciting," Wangler said. "I don't know when I am going to make my decision, but it has been nice seeing what all these schools are about and meeting all these good people."
