Pellum still waiting for first offer

Maybe the top cover corner we saw at the NorCal NIKE Camp a month ago was Santa Fe Springs (Calif.) Santa Fe defensive back Romeo Pellum. The athlete had a strong overall camp and ran one of the fastest 40 times as well but is still waiting for that elusive first scholarship offer.
Pellum, 5-9, 150 pounds is a talented player who not only showed well at the NIKE Camp but looks the part on film as well. He clocked a 4.54 in the 40 and jumped 33 inches in the vertical. He was also rated among the top three defensive backs in the camp and top corner of the day.

On the recruiting front, Pellum has a host of schools looking at him and several appear close to offering.
"Utah and Washington have both said they just need to see my transcripts before they offer," Pellum said. "Washington, Oregon State and Oregon are recruiting me hard as well and have said they want to see my first game next season before they could offer.
"All of those schools want me to take an official visit and I may trip to Utah (Oct. 27) but it's not 100% locked in just yet. Right now, my top schools are Oregon, Oregon State, Washington, Washington State, Cal, Arizona State and Utah. I'm going to go up to Oregon and work out a little with my uncle (Oregon LB coach Don Pellum) later in the summer but I don't plan on doing any more camps.
"As for making my decision, I want to take all five trips before I commit anywhere. I talked to my coach already and he said I could do two during the season and then I'll take the other three after the season is over."
