Pellum still playing the waiting game

Santa Fe Springs (Calif.) Santa Fe defensive back Romeo Pellum has gotten off to the fast start he needed in order to kick start his recruitment. The athlete is still waiting for that first offer but believes once colleges see the tape from his first two games, that will change.
Pellum, 5-9, 155 pounds is one of the top cornerbacks in the state. He clocked a 4.54 in the 40 at the NIKE Camp at Stanford and was rated among the top three defensive backs at the event following the position and one on one drills.
Santa Fe is 2-0 this year and Pellum was just named player of the game a week ago in the Chiefs upset win over a very solid Peninsula team.
"On offense, I had five catches for 89 yards and a touchdown," Pellum said. "I also had four tackles and an interception on defense. Things are going really well right now. Our team is playing well and I'm happy with how I've been playing."
On the recruiting front, Pellum is waiting for his first offer but has received several calls this month.
"Utah, Washington, Washington State, Idaho State, Cal and Oregon have all called," Pellum said. "i'm going to send out my tape of my first two games this week so we'll see what happens with tha. I haven't set up any visits yet and I think my coach wants me to wait until after the season to take them so I don't miss any Saturday workouts. We do have two Thursday games so I may try and set something up for those weekends.
"The first one is October 26 and I've talked with Utah about visiting that weekend. The other Thursday game is November 9 but I don't know if I want to go anywhere that weekend because Oregon comes to town to play USC and I really want to be here to check that one out. I for sure want to take all five visits and Oregon, Cal and Utah are three schools I'm pretty sure I'll check out. After that, everything is open and I just want to wait and see who all recruits me the rest of the year."
