Pellerin focused on future

New Iberia (La.) Catholic quarterback Jason Pellerin committed to Ole Miss in June, but there have been whispers he could be looking for a change.
The standout quarterback maintains he is solid in his SEC decision.

"Right now it's a firm commitment to Ole Miss," Pellerin said. "I knew once I committed that's where I wanted to go. A commitment is a commitment to me. I keep a promise and I felt Ole Miss was a great place for me."
The Ole Miss coaching staff has been staying in touch, and Pellerin feels good about the relationship he has established with the Rebels. Coach Freeze and his staff have only had one message for the quarterback.
"Just enjoy my time in high school," Pellerin said. "He knows he'll have me in a year and he knows the quarterback situation over there. They really just want me to enjoy the rest of the time I have in high school, and they've been great about it. They encouraged me to play baseball and basketball, but I told them I'm going to focus on football and get better at that so I'm ready by the time I get there."
The Rebels are not the only ones who have kept in touch. Louisiana-Lafayette has let him know he always has a home with the Ragin' Cajuns, and then there is LSU. Many of the rumors of indecision surround the Tigers.
Pellerin says he has not talked to the Tigers in a few weeks, but he has developed a relationship with LSU offensive coordinator Cam Cameron over the course of the recruiting process.
"He and I have a great relationship and respect each other and he's a great coach," Pellerin said. "After going to camps and working with him we just wanted to touch base. He wanted to see how I was doing and how my family was doing. We were just talking. He said to keep an eye out for LSU. You're still on our board. It was basically just chatting."
The Tigers have not offered, but he admits he has given thought as to how an LSU offer might impact his recruiting process.
"I'm not sure. I thought about that whenever I committed to Ole Miss, and I thought about if LSU were to offer later on down the road if it would affect me," Pellerin said. "Right now it wouldn't affect me at all pretty much. So who knows it's recruiting it's a crazy business."
For now though, he is only worried about one thing.
"Now I'm just focused on college," Pellerin said. "I'm just working out and throwing and just getting better at football. I've never had that opportunity to just use my offseason to get better at football."
Pellerin is currently ranked No. 22 among the nation's 2015 dual-threat quarterbacks.
