Peckich waiting on several schools

McKees Rocks (Pa.) Montour junior cornerback Phil Peckich made the most of his experience in San Antonio earning all-combine honors.
Peckich provided Montour with a lot of production throughout his junior campaign this fall.

On the year he had 89 rushing attempts for 712 yards on the ground with eight touchdowns. He completed 7-of-8 passes for 142 yards and two scores, while recording 40 tackles, two interceptions and three fumble recoveries on defense.
At 5-foot-10 and 185-pounds, he has the frame to end up at any one of several positions at the collegiate level, depending on how his body and game develop over the next year.
Peckich has not yet received any scholarship offers but has drawn attention from a host of schools. What are his plans for the immediate future?
"I am almost set on going to the junior days at Illinois and Cincinnati," he said. "I'm trying to go to others, too. I'm still thinking about the camp situation because they're all mostly during the same week."
While Peckich does not yet have a favorite, the list of schools that he would still like to hear from may provide a glimpse into this thought process on the matter.
"I don't have a favorite yet," he said. "It's still early. I'm waiting to hear from a few schools that I haven't heard much from yet, like Penn State, Pitt, Virginia Tech and Wake (Forest)."
Peckich will be asked to shoulder an even heavier load during the 2009 season, as Montour athlete E.J. Banks will be graduating and heading to Notre Dame.
